Unbeaten record smashed

Leigh Miners Rangers 20 Myton Warriors 29

MINERS Rangers surrendered their unbeaten home record in 2012 to a very impressive Myton side who climbed up to third in the table on the back of this hard-earned success in atrocious weather conditions.

For the second successive Saturday torrential rain hit Twist Lane but the quality of rugby and the compelling nature of the game was unaffected by the deluge as both sides gave it their all. Miners, who were never in front during the match, did however suggest they were on the verge of completing a fine comeback as they rallied from 16-4 down to 16-16 with 20 minutes remaining and the force seemingly with them. However credit to Myton who recovered to close out the game in clinical fashion.

This Saturday the first team have a third home game on the bounce as they look to return to winning ways against an on-song Hull Dockers.

Dockers beat Miners on the opening day of the season.
