LEIGH coach Paul Rowley is aiming to bring in a new forward after it was revealed Matt Sarsfield could be out for up to four months.
“It’s shocking news for us” said Rowley. “We didn’t think he would be out so long but he needs an op so it’s really bad news.”
Initially, Leigh expected to be without Sarsfield for around six weeks with a pec injury.
But following a scan, the second rower - a member of the 2014 Kingstone Press Championship Grand Final winning team - has been told he needs an operation which will keep him out for much longer.
Leigh have moved quickly to target a replacement and it’s understood they are close to announcing a new signing.
Centurions play their second warm-up game of the year on Sunday against North Wales Crusaders at the Sports Village. Last week they enjoyed an 18-14 success over neighbours Wigan.
