WIGAN’S new recruit Taulima Tautai admits the prospect of facing former team-mate Fuifui Moimoi gives Sunday’s friendly at Leigh more spice.
Centurions boss Paul Rowley and his counterpart Shaun Wane have confirmed their respective front-row captures are expected to play in the pre-season encounter.
Prop Tautai played alongside Moimoi at Parramatta and says facing Leigh’s new cult hero will be a useful gauge ahead of the new Super League campaign.
Tautai said: “It’ll definitely add some spice, it’d be good to play against him.
“He holds himself well, he’s been in the game a long time and played for the Kiwis, so he knows how to handle himself. It’d be good to see where I’m at.
“I don’t think anyone likes to put themselves in front of him, but I’m going to have to I guess!”
Moimoi, who arrived in England last week, is 35 but Tautai – who previously played against him while at Cronulla – said: “You wouldn’t think he was 35.
“He looks after himself quite well. He’s a good fella, quite smart but really laid back, really cruisey as.”
Fellow newcomer Larne Patrick may also figure for Wigan but Wane will wait until later this week before finalising his side.
He plans to field a strong line-up, but admits he has several minor injuries to assess.
