Atherton suffered a shock defeat at the hands of Standish on Saturday, putting the home side in to bat first on a tricky wicket they managed to restrict Standish to 143 for 7.

Despite reaching 104 for 1 at just past half way through their overs Atherton collapsed to 138 for 9 as the innings closed. They did manage to collect 7 points from the defeat which kept them on top of the league.

Inserting Daisy Hill proved to be decisive as Atherton got back to winning ways when James Damjanovski 7-20 and Jamar Griffith 3-18 restricted the visitors to 43 all out in 25.4 overs. They then combined to knock off the required runs in just 6.1 overs. This victory leaves Atherton still on top as the season reaches half distance. Both overseas players Jamar and Jimmy have scored nearly 500 runs apiece and taken 44 wickets, and either or both could achieve 1000 runs and 100 wickets if the weather allows all games to be completed in the second half of the season.
