LEIGH have been hit by a major injury blow just days into the new season.
Winger Adam Higson will be out for around seven weeks with a broken hand. He sustained the injury during the win over Bradford Bulls.
“It’s a big loss for us because he is a player I admire greatly,” said Leigh coach Paul Rowley. “He played a big part in the win on Sunday.
“Adam’s looking at about seven weeks out so the likes of Michael Platt, Jonny Pownall and Cameron Pitman all come into contention for his place.”
Higson made 26 appearances for Leigh last term, scoring 17 tries including one in the Kingstone Press Championship Grand Final win over Featherstone Rovers.
Leigh are already missing forwards Martin Aspinwall, Tom Spencer and Matt Sarsfield through injury.
