LEIGH will go back to “Alcatraz” as part of their pre-season training.

That’s the nickname some of the Centurions players came up with for the Club La Santa training complex in Lanzarote.

Leigh had a week there before the 2015 season and will again make use of what coach Paul Rowley has described as a world-class facility.

He has been outlining what the players can look forward to when they return to full training on November 9.

“Their schedule is very defined,” he said. “They will know what they are doing every day right until the ball is kicked for the new season.

“The players will go on a seven-day camp in Lanzarote. It’s not a favourite of many players. It’s like the Alcatraz of sport to some but I thoroughly loved it. Planning is key to everything and I think we proved that last year.”

Leigh will welcome at least four new faces for the 2016 campaign and Rowley is happy to have almost concluded his transfer business early.

“We like to get business done so we can start pre-season with everyone here,” he said. “But a lot of our players have had operations, which prevents them having the kind of holiday they deserve with their family. The sacrifices these players make make them true heroes.”
