Kingstone Press champions Leigh have been handed a £2,000 fine after being found guilty of misconduct.

The Centurions were punished over an incident in the immediate aftermath of their Grand Final win over Featherstone at Leeds in October when a doping control officer was verbally abused while conducting a post-match test on a Leigh player.

Leigh were found guilty by the Rugby Football League’s compliance manager of engaging in conduct prejudicial to the interests of the game and the ruling was upheld on appeal by an independent operational rules tribunal.

Half the fine is suspended until the end of the 2015 season.
