Busy weekend for speedway

Astley & Tyldesley riders enjoyed a busy weekend of cycle speedway racing, turning in some excellent results.

A & T hosted the opening North Regional Round of the British Youth & Junior League series on Saturday, with 54 riders from six teams competing. In the U12 team event, A & T finished second behind Sheffield and in the 12+ team event, A & T took third place behind Sheffield and Stockport. In the Individual Grands Prix Finals, racing in their first ever regional match, brothers Luke and Jamie Hill took second and third places respectively in the U8 Grand Prix Final. Max Evans and Tom Whitwam made it an A & T first and second in the U10 Grand Prix Final and this feat was repeated by Adam Phillips and Reece Pollitt in the U14 Grand Prix Final.

A & T made the short trip to Stockport for a Northern Combination League match on Sunday, took the lead with a 6-4 heat win in the first race and never looked back. A really good solid team display saw A & T run out 83-65 winners.

This win makes it three wins out of three for A & T in the league.

Club training sessions take place every Tuesday at 7 pm. Existing club and prospective new members are welcome to attend the training sessions.
