The championships showcased a range of talent right from espoir through to senior levels - and the juniors’ tumbling and somersaults were among the highlights in front of the judges’ watch.

Showing brave disregard towards scaling dizzying heights (upside down), beyond the capabilities of most people, combined with the precise approach to their finely crafted routines, the young athletes had onlookers mesmerised at the Wigan Leisure and Culture Trust-managed venue.

Stuart Murray, Chief Executive of WLCT, said: “We were absolutely delighted to host this year’s English Championships. Being able to attract national sporting events like this showcases the quality facilities we have to offer and really helps put Wigan on the map.”

The English Championships is timed as a feeder competition for the British championships, which are held from Friday, March 28, to Sunday, March 30, at Liverpool’s Echo Arena.
