Atherton CC 1st XI 192 for 8 Standish CC 133 for 10

Atherton CC completed a league and cup double with victory over Standish last Saturday.

Needing four points to win the title, Atherton were asked to bat first and their total of 192 for 8 gave them three bonus points which meant fiveStandish wickets were required to get the 1 point for the title.

At 4.43 Greg Greenough clung on to a deflected chance at slip and the celebrations could begin.

As it turned out Atherton managed to win the game and secure all 13 victory points which enhances their position at the top of the table. For Atherton Jamar Griffith took 6 for 74 and James Damjanovski , on his final appearance of the season, took 4 for 40 to go along with his hard fought 34 runs.

This completes a famous treble by the club with the first XI winning the Cross Cup last month and the seconds winning the Isherwood Cup also last month.

There is still another trophy available when the Under 15’s play Flixton next Sunday at Higham Park with a 1pm start.
