RENI Maitua has touched down in Leigh ready for the 2016 season.
“I’m so happy to be here and I’m feeling great,” said the forward.
“All the lads have been great.”
Maitua, 33, won an NRL Grand Final in 2004 and represented Australia two years later. The ex-Parramatta star moved to England last year with Featherstone Rovers and ended the season with a loan spell at Salford. Sydney-born Maitua has signed a 12-month contract with Leigh, who also have the option of a further year – and he is delighted to be here.
“I was disappointed to miss the Q&A with the fans and the new players last Tuesday,” he added. “Cory (Paterson) picked me up at the airport early the following morning and told me what a good night it was.
“Hopefully I’ll get to meet everyone soon and already the welcome has been fantastic.”
