JASON Donohue is leading a bid to revitalise Leigh’s past player group.

The former Centurions half-back is looking to connect with former players in the year which will see the club release their much anticipated Heritage Numbers.

The new Leigh Player Association has been gaining momentum through a recently launched Twitter account: @LeighCPA which has attracted many followers already.

“The club made contact regarding the resurrection of the players association,” said Jason.

“We’ve had quite a bit of interest from players and hope that we can create awareness of the group and get ex players to join us.

“Once we get up and running we want to be involved on matchdays – from making half-time draws to doing Q&As in the Legends bar.

“Hopefully the launch of the heritage numbers will focus attention on past players and again create interest to them.

“But the association will only be successful if players join up and hopefully we can support the club financially by donating monies we may raise from functions.”

Jason says many contacts have been made with the club’s former players but is keen to hear from as many as possible.

“We have had 166 players play just one game,” said Jason.

“These players are part of the history of the club just like everyone else.”
