LEIGH have held talks with Rangi Chase over a possible move to the club.
The talented half-back has been linked with Centurions since the end of last season and head of rugby Derek Beaumont says he will do everything he can to bring him to the Sports Village.
Despite reports elsewhere this week which suggested a move may be scuppered because of salary cap restrictions, Beaumont is still hoping to agree a deal with the former Man of Steel.
Writing in his exclusive column for the Leigh Observer, Beaumont confirmed he has held talks with the player.
“It is no secret that I have expressed an interest in attempting to bring him to Leigh – he is a truly magical player,” said Beaumont, who has already signed three of Chase’s former Salford team-mates for 2016.
“There are obviously a number of Super League and NRL teams keeping a watchful eye on the situation. There is also the issue of the salary cap to consider which currently hampers me in such a situation.
“But yes I have spoken to Rangi and yes I have met with him. He is familiar with our club and what we would have to offer.”
The squad begins pre-season training next week though Chase is currently in New Zealand on holiday.
