LEIGH Centurions claimed their second successive Kingstone Press Championship League Leaders Shield with a crushing 66-10 win over Doncaster.
It capped a remarkable league season from Paul Rowley’s side who lost just once at London.
Leigh have now not lost at home in the league for two seasons and go into the Super8s full of confidence as they aim for a place back in the sport’s elite competition.
“Two losses in two years is a wonderful achievement,” said Rowley. “Especially given the standard of the competition.
“It is recognition for the most consistent team and I delighted for the team and the fans.”
Leigh will discover their Super8 schedule on Wednesday and Rowley is looking forward to a tough challenge.
“The bottom four sides in Super League and the top four in the Championship seem to be playing some good rugby at the moment,” he said.
“It’s a different ball game now and remarkably difficult to progress. It will be exciting with plenty of twists and turns ahead.”
