LEIGH Centurions’ 2015 squad and the legendary Alex Murphy are being honoured by the town at a civic ceremony at Leigh Town Hall on Monday, February 9.
And the reception comes just days before the club gear up to kick off their first Kingstone Press Championship game at home against Bradford on Sunday, February 15.
Wigan Council estimate that if the club succeed this season in getting promoted to the First Utility Super League it will generate an extra £3 million in income for the borough.
Murphy and the Centurions will be honoured with their own stars which will be unveiled on the day before taking pride of place outside Leigh Town Hall.
The event will also see children from Leigh offer their backing of the team and as evening falls a fantastic projection of Leigh Centurions’ greatest moments from last season’s Championship success will light up the Turnpike Gallery. The event starts at 1.30pm.
