LEIGH Centurions once again reinforced their intent to be a leading force in the Kingstone Press Championship for 2014 with the Christmas signing of Jake Emmitt from Salford Red Devils.
The 25-year-old front rower joins the Centurions for his second spell after being a member of their squad as a dual registered player four years ago.
But with subsequent Super League experience with Bradford, Castleford and last season, Salford, Emmitt certainly has the right sort of credentials and as a Welsh International is highly rated as one of the best young props in the game.
Leigh Football Director Derek Beaumont: “Jake is a good young prop with bags of Super League experience who was available. I spoke with Paul (Rowley) and although this perhaps not a position in which we may feel we are struggling, we are of the opinion that we must sign quality when it is available, and if we do that everything else will look after itself.
“Jake is a quality player and with the whole issue of what happens in Super League in 2015, and how clubs may or may not qualify, up in the air, we are determined to have the squad that will get us through.
“He’s a great signing for us and one that the fans will appreciate.”
