LEIGH players have been training in Halifax and Formby as coach Paul Rowley mixes up the pre-season programme.
“We always look for some alternative training venues in the run-up to Christmas,” said Rowley.
“I like to test the players and we’ve been up to Halifax to give our Yorkshire-based players a shorter commute and also had a great day in Formby on Saturday running on the beach. Obviously being a former Halifax player I know a few good hills to run up over there!
“On Saturday afternoon we had a bit of a Christmas party with our festive jumpers and exchanged presents – it was a great gathering.”
Rowley says he is pleased with the way training is progressing and has praised the hard work of his staff.
He also revealed that some of the players who underwent surgery during the off-season are making good progress.
“Tommy Goulden is back in full training,” he said. “Tom Spencer, Michael Platt, Sam Hopkins and Martyn Ridyard are all doing some sort of training but not full contact yet.”
