THE home of Leigh Centurions received a shock visit from reigning European champions Bayern Munich ahead of their crunch Champions League clash with Manchester United.
Pep Guardiola’s all-star German side trained at the Leigh Sports Village (LSV) ahead of the quarter-final match at Old Trafford, going through a number of drills on the pitch before signing autographs for fans who spotted Bayern’s team bus.
LSV chief executive Simon Toon said: “When we were asked if we could host a Bayern Munich training session, we were only too happy to help.
“We’ve welcomed countless world-class sports teams here in the past, and to have the reigning European champions is testament to the fantastic facilities we have.
“The feedback we got from Bayern is that they were really impressed with the LSV.”
