The Australian RL team was so impressed with Leigh Sports Village that it arranged a training session there.
Cameron Smith, Johnathan Thurston, Sam Thaiday and the rest of the Australian squad took part in the session on the stadium pitch taking advantage of the top class facilities ahead of their comprehensive 56-14 victory over Wales on Sunday.
Head coach, Tim Sheens, said: “The facilities at Leigh Sports Village are absolutely fantastic. We came to watch the England v Wales match and were so impressed with the venue that we requested a training session ahead of Sunday’s match. Having the right venue to train in is vital for preparations and we certainly found that here and had a really productive session”.
Leigh Sports Village chief executive, Simon Toon, added: “We were delighted to welcome the Australian Rugby League team to train at the stadium.
“The facilities provided the squad with the perfect environment ahead of their Four Nations matches and once again highlighted the state-of-the-art, elite facilities available here at the Village”.
