Marmite is a famously divisive food product, with its ‘you either love it or hate it’ slogan reflecting its polarising flavour.
While not quite as divisive, to many peanut butter is as equally an acquired taste, so the merging of the two might sound like a horror story for some.
But that’s exactly what Marmite are doing with their new product – Marmite Peanut Butter.
It’s the first permanent new product from the brand since its establishment in 1902, and those behind it say it was created to meet demand from consumers.
While the combination of the two spreads might seem unwise, it’s been a popular toast topping for years.
“The British public asked, and we listened,” said Camilla Williamson, brand manager at Marmite.
“We’re delighted to bring the nation exactly what they’ve been craving with the creation of Marmite Peanut Butter.”
How can I try it?
The new spread will be available in 225g jars, and will be available to order from Ocado.com, beginning on 25 March. The product will cost £2.50.
It will then roll out in supermarkets nationwide from April 7.
