Problem lies with players

SO another Latics manager, Uwe Rosler, loses his job and I’m afraid to say that in view of the results this season you cannot argue with that and I am quite content that the newly appointed manager, Malky Mackay has both the credentials and antecedents to improve the current dire situation at the DW Stadium.

As a season ticket holder at Latics, one thing concerns me in the current situation and that is the apparent lack of blame for our position being put on the shoulders of the Wigan players! I read press reports and see comment after comment from Dave Whelan re us being in the relegation zone but not one word of criticism on the players who are letting the club, the owner, the manager and the fans down - the players.

Over the season I have witnessed lacklustre performances, bordering on lazy performances, from several players where time after time and game after game they are second best at reaching the ball and the number of misplaced passes are incalculable. Likewise, the number of off-target shots from in front of an open goal have been too numerous to mention.

My advice for what its worth to both Mr Whelan and Mr Mackay is to start to sort out where the real problem lies, with the players on the pitch, many of whom are not doing the job that they’re employed for and are not earning their wages.
