LEYTHERS turned out in force to mark the World Day of Prayer with a unity service at Our Lady of the Rosary Church.
Christians from a number of different denominations filled the church, on Common Lane, for the service, which reflected on the theme of justice.
The church was decorated for the evening with pictures and artefacts from Malaysia, the country responsible for putting this year’s service together, while the congregation also got to sample Malaysian food after the service.
Coloured candles, representing diversity, were lit and placed at the front of the church next to a peace lily, while the sermon was given by Dr Ann Matthias from Leigh Baptist Church.
A collection for the work of the World Day of Prayer movement raised £409.
