A WOMAN was tied up by thieves in the back of a frozen food store in Wigan.

It happened at around 6.50am on Monday, December 23, when a shop assistant was opening the shop at the Gerard Centre in Ashton.

As she opened the front doors she was followed in by two men, who forced her into the rear office.

The two men stole thousands of pounds worth of cash, tied the woman’s hands together and ran out of the back of the shop in the direction of Turnill Drive.

The two men are described as wearing dark clothing with hi-visibility tops on.

Detective Constable Paul Sumner from Wigan police station, said: “This woman was petrified when her assailants followed her into the shop. They pushed her into the back room where she was tied up and threatened.

“Luckily she was not physically harmed but she has been left very shaken by the incident.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed these men follow her into the shop or have any information about the robbery to come forward and speak to us.”
