Woman arrested on suspicion of assaulting baby

A WOMAN has been arrested on suspicion of assault after an incident in which a seven-month-old baby was hit.

Officers from Greater Manchester Police (GMP) were called to Bradshawgate in Leigh town centre at around 9.45am on Tuesday.

A 20-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assault and remains in police custody for questioning.

The baby is still undergoing medical checks but is not believed to have sustained any serious injuries.

Police inquiries into the incident are ongoing.
