Two taken to hospital after collision

TWO people were taken to hospital after being cut from their vehicles following a collision.

Fire crews were called to Wigan Road in Leigh at around 5.40pm on Wednesday following the incident involving two vehicles.

Firefighters from Hindley and Leigh stations and a technical response unit used cutting gear, a spinal board and trauma bag to free the two casualties.

They were taken to hospital by the North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) and the extent of their injuries is currently unclear.

Fire crews also made the vehicles safe in an incident lasting around an hour and 10 minutes.
