LEIGH Musical Society opens its 2012 programme of monthly concerts with a recital from a society stalwart and one of the UK’s top clarinettists.
Manchester-based woodwind virtuoso Lenny Sayers, a member of the acclaimed Fell Clarinet Quartet, accompanied by pianist Stewart Death, will open the series of Sunday afternoon concerts at the Derby Room, at the Turnpike Centre.
Royal Northern College of Music postgraduate Lenny has performed with many of the UK’s top ensembles, including the Halle Orchestra and is also a composer and arranger.
For the concert in Leigh he will be accompanied by regular pianist Stewart, who will be making his 18th visit to the town’s music club.
The recital will be held on Sunday, January 8, from 2.15 to 4.15pm.
