Telephone outage at Wigan Infirmary

WORK is being undertaken by Virgin Media phone and BT to transfer lines on Friday meaning that some telephone numbers will be unobtainable at Wigan Infirmary.

Telephone numbers affected are numbers that begin with 01942-82xxx/773xxx/778xxx and 01942-244000

Sites affected, between the hours of 10am-4pm, are:

Wigan Infirmary

Offices and Services at Buckingham Row

Wigan investment Centre


Martland Point

Decontamination Unit at Horwich, Bolton

During the outage, there will be intermittent disruption to incoming calls and faxes to Wigan Infirmary and the sites listed above. Each phone line will be disrupted for approximately 20 minutes. Internal to internal and dialling out from the Trust will not be affected.

A spokesperson from the Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Trust said: “If you do try to ring or fax any of the numbers on the sites indicated above and receive an unobtainable dial tone, please try later or try an alternative number.

We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, but please be assured that we have robust contingency plans in place to ensure that services to our patients are not affected.”
