A boy aged 16 has appeared before justices charged with stabbing another teenager in the face.
The teenager, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, has been accused of two counts of possession of an offensive weapon and unlawful and malicious wounding.
The victim of the alleged attack was another 16-year-old boy from Haydock.
The incident took place on Chalon Way in St Helens town centre at around 1.20am on Friday March 25.
The victim was taken to hospital with a one-inch puncture wound to the side of his face.
After his appearance before St Helens magistrates, the suspect was released on conditional bail until Friday April 22 when he is due to make a first appearance before a judge at Liverpool Crown Court.
