OLYMPIC GOLD-medalist Duncan Goodhew visited Leigh last week to promote sport in primary schools.
The swimming superstar was in town to talk to kids at St John's Primary School on Kirkhall Lane and brought his treasured Olympic medal with him.
Leigh MP Andy Burnham visited the school along with Mr Goodhew for the Northern launch of a revolutionary sports scheme on Friday.
St John's PE co-ordinator, reception teacher Natalie Hatton, said: "It was a great experience for the kids. Although they're too young to remember when Duncan Goodhew won the gold, we told them a lot about it in the week before he arrived."
Mr Goodhew is an ambassador for Premier Sport, a pioneering initiative which aims to be providing expert training to one million primary school kids every week in time for the London Olympics.
Mrs Hatton added: "Andy Burnham was great. He did a question-and-answer session with the children."
