A pile of pallets and rubbish caught fire behind a Leigh town centre shop in a blaze which is being treated as suspicious.
Fire crews were called to a small ginnel behind the town’s branch of Burton at around 7.45pm on Wednesday.
They found a small pile of waste alight and used a hose reel to extinguish the flames in an incident lasting around 25 minutes.
Crews from Leigh, Hindley and Warrington stations were initially called to the incident on Back Market Street but only the engine from Leigh remained at the scene once the nature of the fire was clear.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have been informed.
