A RISING electro-pop musician will play for thousands of music fans supporting world-renowned superstar Sir Elton John in Leigh this summer.

Welsh act Bright Light Bright Light has been given the slot warming up the crowds at the Leigh Sports Village (LSV) before Sir Elton takes to the stage on June 21.

Bright Light Bright Light, which is the stage name of synth-pop musician Rod Thomas, has already worked with Sir Elton as the pianist and singer-songwriter provided a guest vocal appearance on his latest single I Wish I Was Leaving.

His acclaimed debut album Make Me Believe In Hope, released in 2012, drew critical praise before he went on to record a cover of West End Girls featuring Ana Matronic from the Scissor Sisters.

His latest single drew comparisons to The Beach Boys for its sweeping electronic pop and catchy chorus.

A limited number of tickets are still left for the stadium show, which promises to be one of the biggest gigs to hit the borough in decades.
