A store was evacuated after staff received a phone call containing a "significant threat".
Staff made the decision to evacuate the Tesco Express on Atherton Road, Hindley Green, after they received the call at around 4pm on Friday.
Officers from Greater Manchester Police along with a bomb disposal team searched the store but found no evidence of a threat and staff and customers were able to return at around 5.45pm.
A spokesman for GMP said: "We did receive a report of of a bomb scare and the building was evacuated. This was after the store received a phone call that there was a significant threat.
"A thorough search of the building was carried out but no threat was discovered. Officers will be investigating the source of the call."
