Police identify woman killed in lorry accident

THE elderly woman who died after a collision with an articulated lorry has been identified.

The accident happened around 11.45am on Wednesday - police were called to Leigh Road following reports a woman had collided with a lorry.

Officers attended and the elderly woman was found deceased, she has now been traced and her relatives have been informed.

Formal identification will take place later today.

Sergeant Mark Thomas, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “I would like to thank the public for their assistance and helping us identify this woman’s family.”
