The force of the blow caused the victim to fall to the floor and the offender then proceeded to kick him in the face – causing serious injury - before running off.

Following the assault, the injured man made his way home before going to hospital where doctors determined he had suffered a broken jaw which needed to be wired shut.

Officers investigating the assault have now released an image of three men they wish to speak to as part of the investigation.

DC Paul Sumner said: “The injuries sustained by the victim are obviously very serious and we are working tirelessly to try and determine who the offender was that has beaten this man to the point where he can’t speak.

“I would now like to ask for the public’s help with this investigation and urge anybody who recognises the men in the image or who may have witnessed the assault to please contact the police.”
