An 80-year-old woman was victim to a distraction burglary in Golborne.
At 8.40pm on Tuesday November 25, a man knocked on the back door of the woman’s home on Lowton Road, claiming there had been had been an explosion.
He told her he had to come in and check the radiators and asked her to stay in the kitchen to fill pots and pans with water. As she was distracted, the man let another offender through the front door.
The second man searched the house before stealing a small safe containing money and a pearl worth £2,000. Both men then left.
One of the offenders is described as being white, suntanned, in his 20s, 5ft 6in tall, of slim build, clean shaven, wore a black woollen hat, dark jacket and spoke with a local accent.
