A CHILDREN’S party to raised more than £3,000 for a severely disabled boy.
Little Charlie Townsend, from Astley, and his mum and dad, Gemma White and Shane Townsend, held the charity party to raise money to provide sensory equipment, a special bed and handling equipment to help make their one-year-old son’s life a little bit easier.
Charlie was born with West Syndrome, which is severe form of epilepsy with global atrophy and is also partially sighted.
The fund-raising was further boosted with a £100 donation by local law firm Stephensons Solicitors LLP.
Gemma’s friend Claire Mills is a paralegal at the firm and asked her employers to help the family reach their target.
Gemma said: “The day was fantastic and we have raised more than we expected to help towards Charlie’s care needs. We are also so grateful for the £100 given towards funds and want to thank everyone at Stephensons, as well as everyone else who attended the party and helped us to reach an incredible £3,000.”
