Off-road bike crackdown

THE Leigh Neighbourhood Policing Team has recently been targeting off-road vehicle nuisance on the High Folds estate in Leigh.

Since beginning of June, local officers have been working with Greater Manchester Police’s off-road motorcycle unit.

During the course of this extremely successful initiative, three bikes were seized, 12 warnings issued and three offenders were summoned to court. PC Doug Craigen said: “Off-road bikes are illegal, dangerous, noisy and a nuisance to residents. Offenders are not only risking an appearance in court, but are also likely to have their bikes crushed. We will continue to take robust action against these people and send out a clear message across the estate.”
