THE new President of Leigh Lions Club is Leigh through and through.
Maureen Ratcliffe, formerly known as Gill, has lived in Leigh all her life and her father was the landlord of the famous ‘Standard Mower ‘ Public House in the town. She has been actively involved in Church and Community events for many years.
The Club, which performs voluntary work and fund-raising for needy causes in the Leigh area, is part of a worldwide organisation with 1.3 million members in 207 countries.
The Lions are fun loving and caring people who meet twice a month at the Leigh Miners Club and they will soon be out and about in the town handing out their free ‘message in a bottle’ lifesaving scheme.
