Man suffered burst ear drum and skull fracture in attack

A TEENAGER suffered a fractured skull and burst ear drum in a savage street attack.

The 18-year-old was standing outside the Pulp Nightclub in Railway Road when he was attacked from behind.

His cowardly assailant punched him hard in the head, knocking him to the ground before fleeing.

Police today appealed for information about the 5am attacked which happened on Saturday August 16.

The victim was taken to hospital where he received treatment for a fractured skull and a burst ear drum, and is now recovering at home.

The attacker is described as being white, in his early to mid-20s, with short cropped black hair.

PC Adam Jones of Wigan division said: “The victim was left with a fractured skull after the attack, which knocked him to the floor and left him hospitalised.

“I am keen to speak to anyone who may have mobile phone footage of the attack and I would appeal to anyone who witnessed the incident to call police as soon as possible.”
