A man has been charged following the death of a man in Tyldesley.
Daniel Walker, 23, of Devon Road, Tyldesley, was charged with murder and possessing an offensive weapon.
He is due to appear before Wigan magistrates today (Wednesday).
Emergency services were called to a house in Rutland Road, Tyldesley, in the early hours of Monday morning, after receiving reports of a knifing.
Arriving shortly after 3am, they discovered Stuart Smith with serious injuries to his torso.
He was taken to hospital, but died later.
In a tribute, Stuart’s family said: “Stuart was a happy loving son, grandson, uncle, cousin, brother and friend. He will be missed by everyone.
“He always had a smile on his face and it is tragic he has been taken away from us at such a young age.
“Stuart was thoughtful, kind and always there for his nieces and nephews. He was a loveable character and he will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.”
A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in police custody for questioning.
Det Supt Jon Chadwick, from Greater Manchester Police, said: “I would ask anyone who may have seen or heard two men arguing outside a house on Devon Road or Rutland Road, Tyldesley, to contact police. The information you have may be able to help us determine what exactly happened.
“There is an increased police presence. and if any members of the community are concerned, I would ask them to speak to an officer, and they will be able to address any worries that they may have.”
