A MAN caught pleasuring himself in a sports shop has been ordered to complete a sex offender treatment programme.
David Moss was caught performing the lewd act while holding onto a set of horse riding clothes. The 58-year-old subsequently admitted outraging public decency.
Wigan magistrates heard how a female customer was shopping in Leigh’s Sports Direct store on January 8 when she noticed Moss performing the act and she alerted a member of staff.
The court heard that he did not notice the assistant manager when she tried to stop him, so she asked a Tesco security guard for assistance. By the time she returned to the store Moss, who was living in Ashmore Street, Tyldesley, at the time, had moved from his spot and was walking around the store.
The security guard helped her to detain him until police arrived. Moss subsequently pleaded guilty to the offence on his first appearance before the courts.
Magistrates handed Moss, now of Mauldeth Road, Manchester, a three-year community order and a three-year supervision requirement.
They also ordered him to complete a 180-hour sex offender treatment programme and pay £85 towards costs and a £60 victim surcharge.
