BRAVE supermarket staff agreed to lose their locks to help a major charity.
Several members of staff at a Tesco store took their place in the barber’s chair for a close shave in aid of Diabetes UK on Saturday afternoon.
Hair stylist Sara Beswick did the honours in removing their hair, while generous customers showed their appreciation of the fund-raising efforts by placing money in the collection buckets in the Atherton store.
Staff said the event was a success, but the final amount raised for charity is still being tallied.
Diabetes UK has more than 300,000 supporters and 5,500 volunteers across the country, and campaigns for better treatment and services for diabetes and contributes funding towards research into the condition, which is caused by the body’s inability to produce enough insulin, which causes a high build-up of glucose in the blood.
