A round-up of people who have appeared before Wigan and Leigh magistrates.


Luke John Paul Smith (27): Holden Road, Leigh - Stole three bottles of vodka to the value of £101, stole an electric razor to the value of £49, and seven other offences of stealing alcohol and electronic items thefts, all from the Sainsbury’s store in Leigh: Pay £750 compensation, jailed for four weeks suspended for 18 months, with the offences being so serious as an appalling record of offending, curfew requirement for three months with electronic monitoring.

Kevin Robert Smith (37): Telford Crescent, Leigh - Two counts of breaching a restraining order by being at Congresbury Road, Leigh, while prohibited from doing so, committing an offence while a community order was in place for criminal damage of a Ford Galaxy motor vehicle: Pay £100 compensation, pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £85, community order for 12 months with an unpaid work requirement for 100 hours.

David Arthur Cox (63): Cansfield Grove, Ashton - Assaulted Michael Hayes by beating him, committing an offence while subject of a conditional discharge given for assault and criminal damage of false teeth and glasses to the value of £865 belonging to Michael Hayes: Discharged conditionally for two years, restraining order not to contact Michael Hayes.

Jack Mountford (22): Glebe Street, Leigh - At Leigh, stole meat products the value of £71 belonging to Aldi, stole meat products and alcohol to the value of £251 belonging to Asda: Jailed for nine weeks suspended for 12 months.

Jamie Stewart Crompton (32): Everard Close, Worsley - At Tyldesley, drove on Shuttle Street and Elliot Street and failed to stop when required to do so by an officer: Discharged conditionally for three months.

Daley Bygrave: Devonshire Road, Atherton - Application for a closure order in respect of 17a Devonshire Road, Atherton, because of anti-social behaviour: Ordered that the premises be closed immediately and remain closed for three months.

Mark Anthony Thompson (46): Cottersmore Way, Golborne - Assaulted Michelle Deluce by beating: Community order for 12 months with rehabilitation requirement, unpaid work requirement for 120 hours, restraining order not to contact Michelle Deluce or enter Walters Green Crescent, Golborne, pay compensation of £150, pay a surcharge to fund victims services of £85, pay costs of £250 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Susan Joyce Lyon (64): Moorland Road, Hindley - Between July 2015 and January 2017, failed to disclose to the Department of Work and Pensions that they possessed capital above the prescribed upper limit: Community order with curfew for 56 days, pay a surcharge to fund victims services of £85, pay costs of £100 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Christopher John McDonald (30): Strines Close, Hindley - Resisted a police officer in the execution of her duty: Fined £150, pay a surcharge to fund victims services of £30, pay costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Robert Walter Barton (41): Brook House, Scholes - Assaulted Stella Lydiate by beating her: Discharged conditionally for 12 months, restraining order made for the defendant not to communicate with Stella Lydiate, pay compensation of £50, pay a surcharge to fund victims services of £20, pay costs of £200 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Jack Dickinson-Knowles (21): Eckersley Street, Whelley - Used threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour towards three men: Fined £100, pay a surcharge to fund victims services of £30, pay costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.

Kirstie Taylor (30): Bulteel Street, Worsley Hall - Failed to comply with supervision requirements following a release from prison: Jailed for 14 days, with the offence being se serious because of the defendant’s record of previous offending.
