A WIGAN student is in the running to be named Miss Teen Great Britain.
Hanna Oberg will be representing Leigh in the national competition, with the final held at Blackpool’s Globe Theatre on September 30.
The 16-year-old Lowton High School student entered the competition after seeing an advert online, and has already beaten thousands of entrants to make the final.
Hanna said: “I saw the details on the internet, and just thought it would be something fun and positive to do.
“I can’t really believe I’ve got this far already. The competition is all about being a role model, and I think I’m hard-working and approachable, which makes me a good candidate.”
The final will consist of an interview with a judging panel and the chance to model three outfits fun, fashion and ball-gown.
The winner will be crowned Miss Teen GB 2012, and will receive a £1,000 prize, a modelling portfolio photo-shoot, and a host of cosmetic and beauty products.
The interview will give judges the opportunity to grill the contestants on their aspirations for the future.
Confident Hanna said: “I’m not too nervous about it.
“We will get practice the day before, and I think it is going to be pretty relaxed.
“I want to either go into law or be a high school teacher when I’m older.
“I have done work experience with a firm of solicitors, and that was really interesting, and I also like the idea of being either a maths or history teacher.”
Hanna’s number one fan is mum Catherine, who supports her 100%.
Catherine said: “Hanna works really hard and is going to Leigh College in September. It’s a big week for her coming up, as she will be getting her GCSE results. We’re really proud of her.”
Hanna will also be helping with several charity initiatives in the borough, including an appearance at Asda in Leigh.
