The heartwarming moment a young boy with cerebral palsy wins a sports day race thanks to his friends has been captured on video.

Daniel Boyers, 10, was reluctant to take part in this year’s sports day at St Oswald’s Catholic Primary School in Ashton-in-Makerfield fearing he would come last and everyone would laugh at him.

But to show him that wasn’t the case, his friends in year five convinced him to take part in a race with them and to everyone’s surprise, they ran with him to make sure Daniel was the first to cross the line.

His mum Wendy, who shared the video on social media, said: “He ran over the line and ran straight over to me. He was crying his eyes out because he was so happy.

“The boys decided to do it all on their own. They noticed that Daniel needed cheering up and they chose to do that for him.”
