A POLICE car has been involved in a collision.

Witnesses on social media have described seeing a silver Ford Zetec crashing into the police car, which had its lights and siren on, at about 2pm today, Tuesday, on Atherleigh Way, Leigh.

One person wrote on Facebook: “Police car was coming down the bypass from Atherton towards Asda and the car was going from Leigh towards Westleigh and its smashed into the side of the police car.”

The driver of the police car is thought to be unharmed but an ambulance has been called to the scene to check over the driver of the Ford who is said to be conscious and breathing.
