POLICE have released CCTV images of a man who threatened staff with knife in a robbery at a McDonalds restaurant in Leigh.

Shortly after 1am on Thursday 27 November 2014 a man entered McDonalds on Parsonage Retail Park and vaulted the counter before producing a knife and threatening staff with it. He then forced staff to open the safe and hand over money, before jumping back over the counter and leaving and was last seen getting into a van on Clifton Street.

Police are investigating and are appealing for witnesses and information.

The man is described as white, about 5ft 7in tall, of slim build and spoke with a local accent. He was wearing a black and white striped jumper, grey jogging bottoms with stripes down each leg, white trainers, black gloves, and a black balaclava and was carrying a 6in knife.

Detective Constable Stuart Woodhead of Wigan Division said: “Fortunately no-one was hurt, but staff were understandably terrified as the man threatened them with a knife.

“I would urge you to look at the CCTV images closely. The offender has a distinctive tattoo on his left shoulder/neck and someone may recognise it and, if you do, I would urge you to contact police.”
