A CANNABIS farm has been discovered in the upstairs bedroom of a house.

Firefighters from Leigh were called to the house on Newton Road, Lowton, at about 5am this morning after neighbours heard a fire alarm.

They discovered a small electrical fire that had been caused by equipment being used for a ‘substantial’ cannabis farm which consisted of more than 20 plants.

There was no one in the house at the time of the fire.

Police are aware of the farm and are investigating.
