Police have arrested a man from the borough after finding drugs during a stop-search in Southport.
The 19-year-old man from Leigh was arrested on Friday on suspicion of possession with intent to supply and possession of an offensive weapon, after police recovered a quantity of what is thought to be cocaine and heroin.

They also recovered a quantity of cash and a long sharpened screw during the search on the Promenade.
Community policing inspector Graham Fisher said: “These drugs have now been taken off our streets and can no longer be used to cause harm in our communities. These people who deal drugs do not care about those they are dealing to and the impact they have on their lives and on the places they live.
“This stop-search is just one example of how we work day in day out to rid our streets of the blight of drugs.
"While we continue to work to arrest those involved in drug supply in our communities, I would ask anyone with any information about drugs activity in their community to contact @MerPolCC or dial 101. Information can also be given anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
