A man has died following a collision on a canal towpath in Wigan.
Police were called to the area near Manchester Road in Leigh, shortly before 4pm on Tuesday (July 17), and found that a motorcyclist had been in collision with a bicycle.
The rider of the motorbike, believed to be a 19-year-old man, was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
It is understood that there was a pillion passenger, who left scene before the police arrived.
The cyclist suffered minor arm injuries.
Police Constable Paul Hailwood said: “We are in the early stages of this investigation and trained officers are offered supporting to the mans family.
“We understand that there was a pillion passenger who left the scene and I would like to appeal to that individual to make contact with us as possible.
“Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is asked to call us.”
